What is Scrapstore?

Swindon Children's Scrapstore is a low cost community resource centre and environmental charity, which collects businesses redundant re-usable materials otherwise destined for landfill.

The Scrapstore is an Aladdin’s Cave of creative materials stimulating your imagination and breathing new life into discarded items.

With pressure mounting on businesses to reduce waste outputs and dispose of their surplus responsibly: Scrapstore actively assists businesses by collecting their selected safe, surplus materials. We store the resources at the Scrapstore and our visitors or member groups collect all the resources they need and take it back to their groups to use in creative play..

Our Mission Statement:

“The Swindon Children's Scrapstore is an environmental charity that promotes the re-use of materials for the benefit of the local community through art, educational and recreational activity.”

We stock all sorts of things people need for creative play: ‘Transforming Waste Things into Play Things’ through creative play, art and crafts, educational and recreational activities offering opportunities to experiment with different colours, textures and materials.

Scrapstore works directly with the local community educating children, parents, child minders, play leaders and play professionals about reducing waste, re-using materials and recycling.

We actively encourage local businesses to reduce their waste bills, improve their ‘green status’ and support the local community by getting in touch with us.
