Volunteering

Swindon Children's Scrapstore is supported by a pool of volunteers. Our volunteers are key in delivering the services we offer and their contribution is vital to our success.

Our volunteers give their time by completing a variety of tasks, including answering the telephone, retail work, sorting stock, stock display, driving, admin and assisting our members.

Our volunteers are supported through comprehensive induction and on-going supervision. We hold monthly volunteer meetings, during which you can find out what is going on at Scrapstore, put your ideas forward and provide the staff with your valuable input and feedback.

"Olivia took me on as a volunteer shortly after I had a major crisis in my life. I found myself street  homeless, then living in a hostel and struggling to get my life back on track. I spent 18 months volunteering for Scrapstore and it was the best thing that ever happened to me.

I got support, trust, help and encouragement from Olivia and the other volunteers. I was finding that people were coming to me with questions, both customers and other volunteers and I was able to help them.

My self-esteem got stronger and stronger, I was more confident, happy and I found that I was getting right back on my feet where I needed to be.

I don't think that I would be in the great place that I am today if it hadn't have been for my time spent as a volunteer for Scrapstore." - A recent quote from a Scrapstore Volunteer
